How it Works

Tips on how to apply


1. Applying for funding is easy

The entry form takes minutes to complete. Firstly, you must select one of four funding streams of mobility, digital training, sales and marketing or productivity, complete the application form by outlining why your business should be considered, how you would use the fund and how you think it would benefit your business.

2. Catch people’s attention

You should include a short snappy project title and provide a quick overview of what you’re looking to achieve with your project.

 

3.Spread the word

Do you know other businesses who could benefit from Digital Boost funding?
We want to find Ireland’s most promising businesses to be this year’s Digital Boost winners, so why not spread the word?

4. Optional application video

Once you have our attention, it’s time to explain where and how you will use the funds in an optional short two minute video or 5 slide PDF. Build a short story and be sure to tell us how your business will benefit . Keep it simple (you can use your smartphone or laptop camera) and be sure to practice first ! Tips on how to apply

  • Who?

    Can anyone apply to the Digital Boost Fund?

    You must be a VAT-registered business which is trading in the Republic of Ireland and you must be over 18 years of age.

  • Who decides which proposals receive funding?

    Our expert panel will review and decide on which funding proposals will be supported. The panel is drawn from our Digital Boost partners including Google, Samsung, PayPal and the Digital Marketing Institute.

  • I have a business idea but have not set up a company. Do I qualify?

    You can’t apply unless your business is already established, trading in the Republic of Ireland and your business must be VAT registered. Also, you must be over 18 years of age. It is also open to registered charities.

  • What?

    What is the Digital Boost Fund?

    It’s a fund of resources — including hardware, services and training — which allows Irish businesses to improve, innovate, or expand. The total value of the fund is €250,000.You must apply to be considered, and your application will be judged by our expert panel. The awards will consist of equivalent value vouchers (no cash awards will be made). The vouchers can be redeemed with our Digital Boost partners including Google, Samsung, Salesforce, PayPal and the Digital Marketing Institute.

  • What are the four "Funding Streams"?

    Mobility, Training; Sales & Marketing; Productivity; Which area would your company most like to strengthen? You may apply for an award in only one of these streams during any one round.

  • What can I use the funding for?

    Remember there are no cash awards; you will receive a voucher which you may redeem with one of our nominated Digital Boost partners, including Google, Samsung, PayPal and the Digital Marketing Institute. The voucher may only be redeemed for the stated product or service, from the stated partner.

  • What should I include in my proposal?

    You must complete the application form telling us about your company, which funding stream you are applying for, how you will use the vouchers if your application is successful, and how that will benefit your business. Be as specific as you can and quantify the benefits where possible. You can include some powerpoint slides or a short video to support your application. These are optional but they’re a great way to help the expert panel understand how you’d benefit from Digital Boost funding. However, don’t include any commercially sensitive or competitive details as powerpoint slides and videos will be published on the Digital Boost website.

  • What are the judges looking for?

    They’re looking for promising Irish companies who have clear ideas and are committed to improving their businesses. The judges want to see that your ideas, as expressed in your application, are clearly relevant for the funding stream you’ve chosen to apply to.   • When?

    When will you announce which applications have been awarded funding?

    The first batch of winners were announced in March. Entries for the second and final round of Digital Boost 2014-2015 will close on 30th April 2015. Winners from this  final round will be announced in July 2015.

  • If my application is successful, when will I receive my funding?

    Each of the winners will be contacted and arrangements will be made for them to receive their funding in a timely manner. Final round winners will be announced in July 2015.

  • What is the deadline for applying to the fund?

    The closing date for the second and final round of Digital Boost 2015 has been extended until 30th April 2015. Winners from this  final round will be announced in July 2015.

  • How

    How many winners will there be per round?

    In each round, we’ll announce winners in each of the four funding streams. This means that winners will be named in two separate announcements over the course of the Digital Boost 2014-2015 program. Final round winners will be announced in July 2015.

  • I want to upload a video or powerpoint slides to support my Digital Boost application. How can I do this?

    1. Complete the required fields on the form 

    2. If you would like to upload optional visuals, choose the file type that you will be uploading  – PDF, Video, or YouTube Link

    3 A. If YouTube link, paste the complete YouTube url into the area provided.

    3 B. If you are uploading a file, click on “Select a File”, browse to the file you are uploading and select it. Accepted video formats are mp4 and mov.

    4. Maximum upload size is 250MB. Files of this size may take some time to upload depending upon your internet service. Video should be no more than 2 minutes.

    5. Once all required fields are complete and you have uploaded your file, click on “Apply Now”.

  • How do I redeem my prize?

    Our appointed agency will contact each winner to ensure that redemption of vouchers is done in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Miscellanenous

    Checklist to help you with your application?
    • Have you completed all sections of the funding application form?
    • Is there a genuine need in the business for the investment area identified?
    • Will the investment help to achieve a genuine business objective?
    • Does your application show evidence of commitment to growing and improving the business?
    • Does the proposal align with the description of the funding area applied for?
    • Be sure to upload your application to one of the four funding streams only. Applications submitted to multiple streams will not be considered.

  • Is there a limit to the number of applications I can submit for one company?

    There are two separate rounds for Digital Boost, which means you have two opportunities to enter. However you can only enter once in a round, selecting only one funding stream to apply for. Applications submitted to multiple streams in the same round will not be considered. Final round winners will be announced in July 2015.

  • I've heard that all applications to the fund will be made public on the Digital Boost website. Can you keep my proposal private?

    If you complete the application form only, this is for view by the expert panel. However, if you upload visuals – such as a video or powerpoint slides– these will be on public view. Do not disclose any confidential or sensitive company information in them.

  • I've submitted a proposal in one funding stream already. Can I apply for funding in another funding stream?

    Yes, but not until the next round. You can only apply for funding once in any one round. There are two separate rounds in Digital Boost 2014-2015. The closing date for the second and final round of Digital Boost 2014-2015 has being extended until 30th April 2015. Final round winners will be announced in July 2015.

  • The application form asks me to upload an image for my funding proposal. What dimension image is best?

    The ideal ratio for the image would be: 300 wide: 200 high
