eir Business announces Galway based waffle house, “Mr Waffle” as latest Digital Boost winner

Mr Waffle to benefit from digital prize package worth €10,000 including a free business app    eir Business today announced Mr. Waffle in Galway as the first winner of Digital Boost for 2013. The new format for eir’s Digital Boost helps SMEs to ‘boost’ their digital presence with a  package worth €10,000 which includes a free business app, free unlimited eMobile plan for 18 months, a Sony tablet and smartphone as well as mobile marketing and mobile strategy consultations with the Digital Boost expert panel. Mr Waffle is the first of six monthly winners in the free to enter competition. Mr. Waffle serves authentic Belgian waffles as well as a wide selection of savoury and sweet crêpes, sandwiches, quesadillas and salads at two locations in Galway. The menu is complemented by an award-winning barista team serving up the finest Grade 1 Arabica coffee beans and teas. Mr. Waffle’s flagship store in Galway opened in December 2010 and is located at Newcastle Road. The second store opened in August 2013 in Liosban Retail estate, Tuam Road, Galway. Commenting on Mr Waffle’s win, Gary Disley, Marketing Director, eir Business, said: “eir Business is committed to helping Irish companies improve their digital performance and the judging panel was very impressed with Mr. Waffle’s ambition and drive. We believe that winning Digital Boost will help take Mr. Waffle to the next level of digital excellence. Creating a mobile app will provide an additional platform for Mr. Waffle to speak directly to its online community of over 7,000 people as well as increase business revenues. “One of the key benefits of winning Digital Boost is that it gives the company access to our digital experts. Mr Waffle is based in Galway but has ambitious plans to expand across 12 locations nationwide and the panel felt that eir could provide advice, guidance and creative input into the company’s digital expansion strategy. The panel also felt that the business demonstrated a strong commitment to its brand and this would translate well onto an app.” The founder and owner of Mr. Waffle, Kevin Nugent, gave up full time employment to pursue what he says has been his dream of owning his own company in 2010. He was crowned JCI Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Galway in 2011 and the SCCUL Retail Entrepreneur of the Year for 2012. Speaking about his win he said: “Our business is all about our customers and we are focused on delivering them a truly unique experience. We are now ready and committed to rolling out the Mr.Waffle expansion plan in Ireland. Our strategic plan will see us expand in Cork, Dublin and Belfast. We are looking for the very best franchise partners who we feel will remain true to our values and beliefs. Increasing numbers of our customers are online so we have been working on our digital presence over the past few years. We have built up strong communities around Mr. Waffle on Facebook and Twitter and launched a new website earlier this year. “We heard about Digital Boost through a friend and thought it was ideal for our company. We want to get our digital presence to a place where it matches what our business is really about and winning Digital Boost will help us achieve this.” To enter Digital Boost – click here or download the Digital Boost App from the Apple and Google Play stores
